Symbolic Map

Picture

About this project:This map talks about me, but in a fun way... not with words, but with little symbols that represent me, and that represent all the little and important things in my life. The key I made includes the explanation for every little picture in this map. I found symbols that I consider really important in my life, like:

Paura's bay: This represents my cousin Paula, she is like the younger sister I've never had... I spend a lot of time with her, and I can tell anything to her and does she. She is 2 years younger than me, and I can say that I've practically lived my teen years with her, we have been trough many things together. I simply love her, she is amazing.
"6c": The compass rose represents my family but only the kids, Gabriela (sister), Andres (cousin), Daniela (cousin), Martina (cousin), Emilia (cousin), Paula (cousin). They are the cousins that I spend most of the time, specially Emilia Paula and Martina, Andres and Daniela live in Cuba and I wish that they can live here as they did before. Hopefully they will live until the world ends and hopefully we will spend a wonderful time together whenever we can.
Reflection:
I enjoyed creating a map where I had to use different symbols to explain myself, it was hard because usually to do that, words are needed. I went through a lot of problems when accomplishing this project, I think I had to start all over again at least 3 times, first I forgot my cardboard in the bus and when I asked for it, they had already threw it away. The second time I was finally painting, but since I didn't have watercolors, I used watercolor soft pastels and since it is like chalk, everything was messy and the colors were mixed. The 3 one, I was more careful and I used watercolors.
There are some things I would like to change, like symbols that now I think they are insignificant. I would prefer to use my family and some new people I've met and erase some ribbons that

Using Shapes

Picture
About this project:
This project was all about using creativity. You had to follow some steps, like "Draw 5 circles" and some other ones. You just needed to follow every direction but place the figures wherever you wanted to. Then you needed to color them with different techniques and you needed to do a certain number of techniques with different colors. You also needed to paint an odd number of figures in black. You could sometimes add add figures that you wanted to, it was all up to you.
Reflection:
It was a great project. I was able to use different colors and I could choose between color pencils and markers. There were many times that I ran out of ideas to paint and so I had to spend hours to think which design to use. Many times I did something wrong, so I just went ahead and painted that place in black. It was really fun to accomplish this project, I was just creative and patient.
I think that I would do this again, I would try to use more colors than the ones I was expected to use, I would also try to reduce the number of errors I did, and don'y just correct them by using black marker.

Half-Portrait

Picture
About this project:
In this project, I had to take a picture of me, and then cut it in half in whatever way I wanted to. Then I glued to a piece of drawing paper, and finally started to draw. I used a pencil and a blending stick to make the missing half. I needed to draw every little detail so that the face looked realistic, I need to use shadows, and wrinkles and sometimes make any part I couldn't draw up.
Reflection:
When I finished this project, I was amazed. Although I had to start all over again plenty of times, I was pretty successful. When I started, I looked at the half picture, and thought, how I'm I supposed to start, where do I start, how do I start!! I couldn't think of any think positive. The hardest parts were the mouth and the nose, I had to check them every once in a while. When I was almost done, I had to add some shadows and make the hair a little more realistic. I just put the shadows wherever I thought they looked good, but at the end they looked pretty good. If I had the chance to do it again, I think that I would look more to the details, because I didn't pay much attention to them, that is the only thing I would definitely change.
